About Me

Hi, I’m Heidy! The beautiful outdoors, adventure travel, creating inspiring interior spaces, & helping others are my great loves.

I look for every excuse to be outdoors- this enthusiasm has followed me since I was a kid. I am grateful to have lived in beautiful Folly Beach, SC for nine years where I was able to fully follow my adventurous spirit. My zeal for the outdoors and living a new tropical beach lifestyle included learning to sail & scuba dive, explore every nearby beach to the fullest of my hearts content, hike along rivers and marshes, discover wildlife and sea creatures, boat through inter-coastal waterways, kayak & paddle board, camp and build bon fires, and watch early morning sunrises over the marsh and sunsets over the ocean. 🙂

I’ve traveled to over 30 countries worldwide. My favorite type of travel is what I call adventure travel. For example in 2010 a couple friends and I rented a “Juicy Camper Van” in Australia and drove along the “Great Ocean Road” for eight days out of our 21 day trip. Every evening included exploring the grandiose landscapes, having cookouts and gathering around the bon fire. Adventure travel is when my husband and I backpacked for 30 days around Costa Rica and visited 14 different villages and towns.. Or, adventure travel is when we stayed in a tent in the jungle of Panama and became acquainted with new wildlife species & creepy insects! I love how “present” I feel while experiencing brand new adventures such as those!

One of my absolute favorite beaches in Panama called Polo Beach. Mr. Polo still lives there. He loves to cook fresh Lobster with rice & pasta at his open air tiki hut, for only $5!

I’m an Interior Decorator….

Traveling inspires my interior designs as well as the colors I choose to use. This paint color palette is inspired from my trip to Switzerland.

I love Rock City Church, where I go weekly and volunteer regularly. I was able to go on my first mission trip to build a house in Choluteca, Honduras in 2019. In eight days, my group and I handed the keys over to a beautiful family of four who never had a real home. Prior to building this new home for them, they slept under a tin roof with dirt floors that flooded every time it rained. I continue to keep in touch with the amazing families and kiddos I met. ❤

From the top left, Alan and I are taking a break from the sun. It got up to 110 degrees! The second photo we’re checking out the river in their neighborhood Las Brisas. Right above, is Maria with the new stuffed animal I sent her a few months after our trip. I can’t wait to go back!

I currently live in Columbus, OH with my husband and our fur baby, Carlos. As Covid-19 takes precedent in our lives at this time while following health precautions, I have a lot of time to think and write about my experiences.

I hope you’ll come along my travel adventures as I continue to share my experiences on worldtraveladventures.blog

Happy Travels! 🙂
